Trubys Interfaith Cafes

Project - Trubys Interfaith Cafes

Our café is set up as a traditional English Tea Room with table cloths, fresh flowers and vintage crockery. You will be greeted and seated by our volunteer waitresses who will take your order and serve your food. You can expect to order from a varied menu. Our dishes range from traditional cream teas with all the trimmings to food from around the globe; places as far flung as Persian, Asia, Trinidad, Somalia and the Middle East, alongside our homemade gourmet burgers served with sweet potato baked chips and Italian salad! All our food is halal and made lovingly by our volunteers and donated to the café. Our venues provide prayer facilities and where possible we choose locations with good parking facilities.

We will seat you on tables with others to enable dialogue. It’s all about sharing food and sharing voices and we hope by eating together you will take the opportunity to talk and get to know those sitting on your table or around you.

From time to time we join with friends from other organisations to put on special events. These can feature performances of stories, poetry and music from across different faiths and cultures.

At our events you can expect to find stalls such as the Palestinian Solidarity Campaign. Many organisations attend our events to provide information about their services and gain valuable insight for improvements through conversations at the cafes. These have included teams talking about improving employability, mental health, arts and culture, raising awareness about diabetes and environmental issues.
